THE GATE

Have you ever heard of Satori?  Do you know about “The Gate”?

I first learned about Satori and the “Gateless Gate” from one of Dr. Wayne Dyer’s books.

Satori is the Buddhist term for enlightenment and literally means understanding. Satori refers to a flash of sudden awareness or individual enlightenment, and is considered the first step towards nirvana.

The concept is…Satori is attained by going through the Gateless Gate. The gate is the difference between a life of deprivation on one side of the gate to a life of enlightenment and abundance on the other side and all you have to do is walk through the open gate to the other side. It’s about finally making a decision to do so. These decisions usually occur in a second, and once made, you never go back.

Many people spend their lives dreaming of the gate.  They want something better, something different, something beautiful.  However, because of insecurity, fear, or perhaps someone told them “they couldn’t”, the gate remains a distant dream. But you can always walk out of your history and into a completely different life.  All you have to do is make the decision to walk through the gate.

The thought of what Satori represented was transformational for me. It seemed so simple. The decision is simple, but the enlightenment needed to make the decision may take years. I wanted to go through the gate and never look back…and so the symbol of Satori still remains on my office wall to remind me of what this beautiful transformational message means.
